Crepe Maker & Where To Find The Perfect One
If you are like me and you love to eat crepes, and you have always wanted to make crepes in the privacy of your own home, then you have come to the right place. For those of you who don’t know, a crepe is basically a thin version of what we know as a pancake. It is often then used to wrap some fruit or meat and can be a delicious meal anytime of the day.
A crepe maker works by pouring a wheat flour mix into a pan and cooking with a little bit of butter or oil. The batter is then evenly spread out over the pan with a special spatula until it thins out and spreads out. The batter is then flipped at least once to cook both sides of the crepe. Nobody wants a crepe that is undercooked. Then you can use the crepe maker to roll cheese, asparagus, ham, spinach, eggs, ratatouille, mushrooms, or various meat products into the crepe until it is packed in very tight for an enjoyable meal. If you want a sweetened version of this delicacy for dessert you can pack fruit, dairy, chocolate or jam into your crepes and sprinkle confectioner sugar onto it.
After you have cooked the individual crepe and rolled something into it, you can put it back into the pan and cook it again rolled up. The most famous type of crepe is the Crepe Suzette. It is a dessert version of the crepe and is made by pouring Grand Marnier over a sugar covered crepe and setting it on fire. The alcohol will evaporate in the fire, leaving behind a caramelized thick sauce over your crepes. This is something that is common at fancy restaurants and should be tried only with extreme precaution in your own home once you have bought yourself a crepe maker.
As you may already know, a good crepe maker is going to be hard to find. The price range for one of them can be anywhere from $40-$1000’s of dollars. It may seem expensive but bear in mind that people all over the world love crepes and will stop at nothing to eat or make them. This is no longer reserved for just the French people to enjoy; instead people all the way from Oakland, California to Auckland, New Zealand can enjoy a delicious meal made on their crepe maker.
